What I want: Instant RSS to e-mail

I know that I preach the gospel of RSS feeds, Twitter, Snitter and the like, but what I really want is an instant RSS to e-mail agent/website.

RSS to e-mailCurrent options:
sendmerss.com
r-mail.org
feedblitz.com
rssfwd.com
feedburner.com

There are certain feeds that I would prefer to read via e-mail. Having a Treo and gmail IMAP accounts, it would be great to have instantaneous information for certain things. For instance, my future wife's Twitter feed. Having her updates e-mailed to me would be great. I don't want text messages or IM's.

Also, Facebook status updates. I don't ever sign on, but I subscribe to the RSS feed for my friends' status updates.

Knowing these things in real time seems important to me.

The above websites are lacking in one main area: speed.

R-mail.org is the only one that will deliver multiple e-mails a day. The rest are just a digest format for the last 24 hours. But, once again, r-mail is slow. I was receiving the individual r-mail feed e-mails hours after I would see them in Google Reader.

On a side note, I think Google Reader is also slow, because I see updates in Snitter way before the feed hits Google Reader. Perhaps it is a feedburner problem.

Maybe I could use a combination of Outlook 2007, which reads RSS feeds, and an auto forward rule? I haven't looked into that yet. Or maybe Thunderbird?

This goes in line with the concept of gmail being the center of your universe as written about by Steve Rubel: HERE

Anyway, being part of the "MTV generation" that is engrossed in social networking, real-time information is important. Look at the blogging community. Everyone wants to be the first to break a story whether it is about Britney Spears, the latest Apple product, or whatever else is hot at the time. Although, it may not be "breaking news" for anyone but me to see the latest status update for a friend, it may be important enough that I want to respond in a relevant time period.

So, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Google bought Jaiku...

LINK TO BLOG POST ABOUT ACQUISITION

Why is this important?
This may change my opinion on mini-blogging sites. I haven't done a comparison of the major mini-blogging sites in this blog (Twitter, Pownce, Tumbler, Jaiku), but I am signed up for all four of them and have been trying them out. Here's an article with a side by side comparison.

I did have a post on how everyone should use Twitter. You can even follow villager with wheel on Twitter.

But, I love Google. I try to use everything Google. I am a Google fanboy (as if that wasn't obvious by my last two statements). I don't care that they have and will have years of info on me.

So, now I have to seriously consider Jaiku as my main mini-blogging tool.
But, I have feeds from my favorite blogs in Twitter. I can automatically update my facebook status via Twitter. There are Twitter Firefox extensions (TwitterFox, TwitBin). There are many other uses and tools...

There are ways to update all four of the previously mentioned mini-blogging sites, example in this LINK, but Twitter is the key to making that happen.

I actually saw the news about Google buying Jaiku in my Twitter feed...how ironic...Google is complicating my life....I am perplexed...

Hopefully, this isn't an acquisition that Google ignores. They could seriously blow Twitter away with some key integration to gmail, gcal, gtalk, etc...

P.S. Sorry for the link overload.

Social Networking Aggregation...

I previous posted on social networking aggregation, so to follow up, I present Fuser. Fuser (which is still in beta) aggregates Facebook, MySpace and e-mail (pop and imap) all in one place. If you use both social networks and have an e-mail account or two, you can view them all in one central location.
You can reply within Fuser. You can view which social network friends communicate the most on your "leaderboard". It is free and may be useful to you. Check it out.

Help Matt Scranton become an Olympic Torchbearer

Friends,

I've applied to become a torchbearer for the upcoming 2008 Olympics. Part of the initial decision is based on how many votes you get online, which means, I NEED YOUR HELP!!

You can vote one time per ISP number, which means go to the university library and vote on different computers. Go to Internet cafes and vote. Vote on your home computer, work computer. Leave comments too to get more attention!

100 people make it to the final round, so this is a goal within reach. That is a lot of people and you can help me be one of them!

Facebook Group Link:

Here is the website to vote for me:

The main website with all the other applicants is here:

I would really love your help, it will only take 30 seconds.

Thanks,
Matt Scranton
